School of Civil and Architecture Engineering
The School of Civil & Architecture Engineering started civil engineering education in 1986, founded the department in 1994, and changed to the present name in 2009. It now incorporates four undergraduate programs, which are Civil Engineering, Urban and Rural Planning, Water Supply and Drainage Science and Engineering and City Underground Space Engineering. It approved to provide postgraduate programs in 2003, which are civil engineering first level master’s degree and architecture and civil engineering professional degree. It started to accept international students in 2017.
At present, the total enrollment is more than 1200 for undergraduates, more than 200 for postgraduates and more than 50 for master of engineering. The school has 93 staff, with 8 professors, 23 associate professors, and over 50% of the teachers have doctor degree.
The school made a series of achievements during long-term teaching and research practice. In personnel training, the school has been approved to be Provincial Innovation Sample Region of Talent Cultivation Mode, Center of Experimental Teaching Demonstration in Shaanxi, Shaanxi Teaching Team, Pilot Units for Academic Degree Graduate Student Educational Reform of Shaanxi and a number of provincial excellent courses. This provided good supporting for talent cultivation, science research and social service. The school has got 10 provincial awards, including Ministry of Education Science and Technology Achievement Award, Shaanxi Provincial Science and Technology Award. In recent 5 years, the teachers have published over 600 research papers publicly in domestic and foreign academic journals, and over 100 articles are indexed by SCI, EI and ISTP. The school has approved more than 40 national invention and utility model patents.
The School of Civil & Architecture Engineering got the best awards of “Strive for Success” in school level and provincial level. The school has formed own specialty characteristic and mode, focused on ability, formed education and teaching method and curriculum system that fitting with its actual situation. The students have great innovation awareness and practice ability, and employers responded well with them. The employment rate of graduates has remained at over 95% for several years, highest in the forefront of the university.
